WeVideo
Use WeVideo to add questions, polls, discussions and other interactions at selected points in existing videos. Students can respond while viewing videos hosted in MediaPlus and other supported platforms. WeVideo also connects with Canvas for assigning activities and syncing eligible scores.
PlayPosit has transitioned to WeVideo
As of May 13, 2026, PlayPosit has transitioned to WeVideo. Existing interactive videos and Canvas integrations will migrate automatically, and the core workflow and functionality will remain largely unchanged. Activity examples
- Check understanding during a lecture video: Add low-stakes multiple-choice or fill-in-the-blank questions after important concepts so students can check their understanding before continuing.
- Add accountability to assigned media: Place questions or reflective pauses throughout an assigned video to encourage active viewing and help instructors monitor participation.
- Create a branching review activity: Direct students to different sections of a video based on their responses, such as additional explanation after an incorrect answer or an extension activity after a correct one.
- Discuss ideas within a video: Add a discussion prompt at a relevant moment so students can respond to the content and consider classmates’ perspectives.

These tools support different parts of a video-based learning activity and may be used together.
| Tool | Best used for | What it can do |
|---|---|---|
| WeVideo Interactivity | Adding active-learning elements to existing videos | Adds questions, polls, discussions, pauses, branching pathways, and other interactions. Activities can be assigned through Canvas, and eligible scores can sync to the gradebook. |
| MediaPlus | Hosting, managing, and sharing course videos | Stores and streams video or audio content and supports accessibility features such as captions and transcripts. A MediaPlus video can be used as the source for a WeVideo interactive activity. |
| Canvas Quizzes | Assessments that take place separately from a video | Supports quizzes with multiple questions, settings, attempts, feedback, and gradebook integration. Choose a Canvas Quiz when questions do not need to appear at specific moments in a video. |
Use WeVideo when the timing of a question, reflection, or activity is connected to a specific moment in a video.
Use MediaPlus to host and manage the original video. You can then bring the MediaPlus video into WeVideo to add interactivity.
Use a Canvas Quiz when students should watch or review media separately before completing a more traditional assessment.
