Yellowdig is a “social learning” platform. Students can interact with their peers through initial posts, comments, and reactions. Yellowdig uses a point system that allows students to track their grades. These grades sync to Canvas.

This written guide for instructors will show you how to set up Yellowdig in Canvas, create your first community, set up grading, and more.

WeVideo (Previously PlayPosit) transforms passive video watching into an active learning experience by integrating interactive elements. Instructors can enhance videos from platforms like YouTube or ASU’s MediaPlus by embedding features such as multiple-choice or true/false questions, reflective pauses, polls, discussions, and more. This tool integrates into Canvas. Read the toolkit to get started!

Course cards in the Canvas Dashboard can be uniquely customized by a user and does not reflect towards others enrolled in the same course. Aside from choosing which courses to display, Canvas allows users to freely move their course cards on their Dashboard to any viewing order they please. However, once users arrange their course cards, they cannot revert the display back to the defaulted order (“ alphabetically by course name and your role in the course - Canvas”).

Attaching items to discussion posts allows students to provide resources or materials that support their replies or follow discussion requirements. Instructors should decide if this option is necessary for a discussion post or not. Turning on or off this feature applies to all discussions, there is no way to single-out one discussion.

**Student file attachments will NOT count against your 2GB course file limit. Student submissions are cloud-stored**

Some instructors use peer review as a way to initiate student-to-student interaction, and as a way to improve student work. You can allow students to review and provide feedback on another student's online work in Canvas. Peer review allows communication between students and can help students master the concepts of a course and learn from each other.
