Activity examples

Explore examples of how you might use Yellowdig in course activities.

  • Course-related resource sharing.
    Students find an article, video, example or other resource connected to a course topic and create a Yellowdig post explaining why it may be useful or relevant to their classmates.
  • Reflection and discussion.
    Students post a reflection on how their understanding of a topic has changed after a reading, activity, assignment or class discussion. Classmates can respond with questions, connections or their own perspectives.
  • Continue a class conversation.
    Students use Yellowdig to continue a conversation that began during a class meeting, lecture or other course activity. They can add questions, examples, resources or responses after the scheduled class session ends.

Create a Canvas assignment connected to Yellowdig. Based on the participation settings you choose, Yellowdig converts each student's earned points into a score that can be passed to the Canvas Gradebook.

You choose how students can earn participation points in Yellowdig. Criteria can include creating posts, commenting, meeting word-count expectations, receiving responses and other types of participation. Yellowdig uses those settings to calculate a participation score that can be passed to Canvas.

Yes. Instructors and teaching assistants can remove posts, mute conversations and configure content rules.

Yes. A single Yellowdig community can include students from multiple Canvas sections. Participation scores can still pass back to each student's appropriate Canvas course section.

  • Yellowdig provides accessibility features for its web application and reports conformance with WCAG 2.1 AA, the accessibility standard used for web content. When adding your own posts, media or course materials, consider accessibility elements such as alternative text, captions, descriptive links and readable formatting.
