In the New Gradebook, Grade Posting Policy determines how grades are hidden or posted for students from the instructor’s gradebook. “Automatically Post Grades” shows grades entered for students as the instructor enter scores into their grade box. A grade column can be hidden from students’ view, but once the instructor updates the score in a student’s grade box, the student will instantly see the updated score and be email notified. Hiding grades in this setting is best when needing to hide previous scores and providing updates to specific students quickly.

Instructors can set the grade post policy at the course-level so the entire gradebook is affected or at the assignment-level, so only one assignment has the implemented policy.

**Each time a new score is added, it is shown to the student right away, so instructors will need to hide the column each time if they do not desire scores to be posted. Alternatively, the option “Manually Posting Grades” would be the best way to prevent students from seeing updated scores instantly.**
