Canvas allows instructors to set different automatic features to the modules and the contents within them so students only get access when specific requirements have been met. Locking modules allows instructors to hide the modules availability until a set date and time, while prerequisites require students to complete certain modules before the next one becomes available.
**In order to properly set up a module as a prerequisite, make sure the module’s contents have requirements set for them otherwise students will gain access to the next module without doing anything. See the Quick Tip: “How to Add Requirements to Modules” for these steps**
